RACING RULES

1. CAR IDENTIFICATION

a) Track officials may require change in size, color, or number if deemed necessary for scoring.

b) Cars must be registered with the raceway before competing and receiving points and prize money.

c) Numbers assigned to cars must be displayed on the following manner: Both doors, roof, front and rear of car. Roof and door numbers must be at least 18” high with minimum of 3” brush stroke. Number on roof of car must be readable from the passenger side of car.

d) Last years numbers will be reserved to previous owner until March 1st of each year.

2. EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT

a) No one will be allowed on the track surface until emergency services are on the premises.

b) Pit steward will determine when drivers may bring cars onto racing surface.

3. EMERGENCIES

a) No one will be allowed on the track surface other than emergency crews during any event unless requested by track officials.

b) Failure to abide will result in immediate suspension by track officials and remain in effect until notified by track management that suspension has been lifted.

c) In case of accident, drivers are to remain in cars unless in immediate danger, such as fire.

4. SAFETY IN THE PIT AREA

a) All vehicles must observe 5 mph speed limit in pits. Violation of this rule will result in a fine of $300.00 and/or immediate suspension for one race event. This rule applies to all pit personnel. No one is allowed to ride on a vehicle in the pits. Violation of this rule will be considered a safety hazard and driver of car involved will be suspended and fined $300.

b) No four wheelers allowed in pit area without pre registration with track insurance.

5. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

a) Helmets are required to be worn at all times while on track surface. Helmets must meet or exceed Snell 2000 requirements. Helmets must be in good condition.

b) Eye protection required goggles or shield accepted.

c) Window nets required on all stock cars in drivers side window opening. Must be mounted so it will restrain drivers arms and head to drivers compartment and can be easily dropped from either inside or outside of the car.

d) All cars must have main battery switch easily accessible for driver and emergency personnel. Main battery switch must be painted red and kill the engine.

e) Use of sheet metal screws are not allowed.

f) Mirrors are not allowed unless stated in class rules.

g) Cooler lines either water or oil inside driver compartment are not allowed .

h) No two way communication devices are allowed in car.

i) All ballasts will be marked with car number painted white and bolted with two grade five ½” diameter bolts.

j) All cars must have .020 thick steel firewall between driver and engine compartment, and trunk compartment.

k) Sharp and protruding edges must be removed.

l) Glass, chrome trim, die cast parts, lights, lenses and bulbs must be removed.

m) Radiator overflow tanks are required

n) Fan shrouds are required and must cover both sides and top of fan.

o) Exhaust system is required and must exit away from drivers seat.

p) Drivelines must be steel, painted white and must have loops front and rear to hold driveline from hitting ground.

q) Steel wheels only, no mag or alloy wheels.

r) Right front wheel must have over sized lugs.

s) All cars must have a minimum 2 ½ pound fire extinguisher mounted within reach of driver and from outside of car. Extinguisher must be mounted so that it can easily be reached by driver and must have quick release type latch.

t) Roll cages must meet minimum requirements for that class and must be inspected by track officials before racing.

u) Five point seat belts required in all classes. Must be mounted to roll cage. Sub strap required. Must be attached with 3/8” bolts with self locking nut. 3 year date stamp recommended.

v) Bucket or racing type seats highly recommended. Must be attached to roll cage.

w) Racing suits required. Fire suits may be required in certain classes.

x) Window screen is required and tire bars must be attached to roll cage. Bars must be spaced as to not allow tires from entering driver compartment. Gap between bars should not exceed 22”.

y) Must have red clearance light mounted in rear window opening.

6. IMPROPER DRIVING

a) Starter may penalize or black flag anyone who, at his discretion, is guilty of rough driving, cutting through infield, excessive bumping, crowding or related offense.

b) Starter may rely on judgement of other officials when making decisions as to improper driving techniques or in what order cars will be lined up after caution laps.

c) Decision of starter or the decision made by officials is final.

7. FLAGS

a) Flag signals must be obeyed at all times. Failure of driver to obey signals will result in suspension and or disqualification of car and driver. Flagman will invoke all penalties, after conferring with other officials.

b) Flags used: Green - start or restart of race, Yellow - caution or warning. Hold your position at reduced speed, Red - serious hazard. Stop your car, Blue/Yellow Stripe - hold your position, you are being overtaken by a faster vehicle, Black - go immediately to the pit area, White - one lap remains in race, Checkered - finish of race. Crossed Flags - Halfway point.

8. START OF RACE

a) Any car not taking the green flag to start a race will not be allowed to enter track for that race.

b) All races are to be started two abreast from a rolling start, by the pole car, with the starters direction.

c) Pole car has the dress and any false start that occurs will cause that car to be moved to the back of the field.

d) A second false start may result in violator being excluded from competition.

e) Flagman may start race any time the first six cars are in position.

f) Any event in which a scored lap has not been completed, a restart will result with the original line-up with car or cars causing the restart going to the rear of the field.

g) After the first scored lap is complete, any restarts will be in single file with vehicles in same position they held on the last scored lap. Side by side restart optional.

 

9. CAUTION LAPS

a) Caution laps will not be scored.

b) All cars must hold their position during a caution lap at reduced speed . Violators may be penalized one or more positions.

c) The white flag will not fall with a green flag. In other words, their will always be a white flag that is given alone. After the white flag is given, and a caution flag is necessary the race will be scored as cars took the white flag.

d) Track officials may stop any car during a caution period for inspection. If vehicle is determined to be satisfactory to continue racing without pit attention. Car may return to his position before the caution. If pit attention is required, vehicle will restart at the rear of the field.

e) Cars causing a caution in the heat race will be disqualified for that event. Cars causing two cautions in the main will be disqualified for that event.

f) Cars that do not maintain forward motion will be considered involved in the caution and will restart at the back in the position they ran prior to the caution, with the cars involved.

g) All races are subject to a time limitation.

h) When a car enters the pits during a race and returns to the track, it must return to the back of the field.

i) Pit steward will control entrance onto the track.

j) Flagman will not hold up a race waiting for a vehicle to return to the track.

10. PURSE

a) Purses paid to participants based on total points for that meet. Purses will be paid to participants within 14 days or the next race event. When association event is run at the track, track will pay entire amount to the sanctioning association board of director. Track reserves the right to request from the association a written document stating to whom and how each purse was paid.

b) Atomic Motor Raceway reserves the right to publish or use this information in any way it wishes for promotional reasons.

c) All purse schedules are subject to change, however proper notice will be given to all registered participants if such change occurs.

11. PROGRAM CANCELLATION

a) When a racing meet is stopped because of weather or other conditions over which the officials have no control, the racing program will be considered complete at the discretion of track officials, when ever a race is cut short due to circumstances beyond their control, every car taking part in the race shall be paid according to the position they were in when the race was ended.

12. PROTESTS

a) Any scoring protest must be submitted in writing to the track manager within fifteen minutes of the final race. Any dispute that can not be resolved by review of lap sheet or video tape between the track manager and the protestor, will be resolved by vote after reviewing incident by a board made up of two track officials and the top three finishers, not directly involved in the protest, in the same class. Their decision is final. Protest involving technical rules must be made in writing to the pit steward within fifteen minutes after the completion of the last main event. Protest may be made by any driver competing against car he wishes to protest. Protest fees must be given in cash to pit steward with the written protest.

b) Protest fees, visible not requiring tear down $250.00 non visible requiring tear down $500.00. If protest is up held full amount returned to the protestor. If protest is disallowed, visible fees will be given to car protested. If non visible $ $350.00 goes to the car protested, remainder goes to mechanic assigned to do the tear down.

c) In all cases, if protest is up held, car protested will lose all points and purse for the night.

d) In all protest that are up held, car found illegal, will lose his points and position for that race. All other cars will remain as they finished.

13. WEEKLY LINEUP PROCEDURES

a) First night, all drivers draw for heats. Qualifiers redraw for starting positions. One heat- 5 redraw; two or five heats- 10 redraw; three, four or six heats- 12 redraw.

b) From second night on heats are lined up by season point average, stagger inverted, lowest point average to front, highest point average to rear. New drivers carrying no point average start at the rear. Two or more drivers having no average or same point average will be lined up at discretion of officials. Point averages are figured from point system. Average is figured by drivers track point total divided by the total number of times he/she has competed at track.

c) “B” mains are lined up straight up from heats with highest finishers to the front. When one heat is run, top five qualifiers will be inverted for future lineup according to season point average. When two or five heats are run, the top 10 qualifiers will be inverted for future lineup according to season point average. When three, four or six heats are run, top 12 qualifiers will be inverted for future according to season point average. Promoter reserves the right to relocate a driver from an invert position to the rear of the field if deemed necessary for the safety and well being of all involved. Remainder of “A” feature is lined up straight up from heats and/or “B” features.

d) A driver that qualifies but has no point average shall be lined up in last invert position. Should there be more than one driver with no point average, positions will be lined up at discretion of officials.

e) If a driver is absent for two consecutive events (excluding rain-outs ), upon his/her return shall be treated as a new car ( rule “d” ) for the first time he/she returns.

f) Track option to lineup mid - season and season championships straight up by total points.

 g) Track may have two programs, other than opening night, where a draw - redraw system may be used for lineup.

14. POINTS SCHEDULE

a) Weekly “A” feature is 40 points, with each subsequent position worth one point less. This makes the 24th spot in the feature worth 17 points. If 24 or more cars start in the feature, all positions from 24th on back receive 17 points. When a “B” feature is ran, the first non - transferring driver receives 16 points and each subsequent position, back to sixth spot, receives one less point per position. Sixth and position on back in the “B” feature receives 11 points. This applies to all “B” feature if more than one are run per night.

b) Drivers must compete in heat race or feature to receive minimum 11 points - no show - up points. Should a driver qualify for a “B” feature or the “A” feature, and not be able to make the field due to mechanical or other difficulties, driver will be scored in last position of the race qualified for, and receive points accordingly.

c) Vacated position will be filled in by the next qualified driver.

d) All cars will receive minimum points unless disqualified by technical violations or driving violations. If disqualified by technical violations no points are earned for the entire meet, if for driving violation, no points are earned for that heat or main.

e) Points will be awarded to driver not car number in IMCA classes. All other classes, points will go to car number. Minimum 8 race events must be attended, to be eligible for year end awards.

f) Atomic Motor Raceway reserves the right to require certain decals to be run on the right front fender of the car to be eligible for certain purse monies. Only registered cars will participate in these funds. These decals and amounts will be disclosed as available.
